About: Applications are invited from interested and motivated candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a time-bound research project sponsored by the Science & Engineering Research Board – (SERB, F. No. CRG/2022/002209) for a temporary period purely on a contractual basis as per the following details:

Project Title: Exploring epigenetic regulation of Shelterin proteins and their role in Cardiovascular Diseases
Funding Agency: SCIENCE & ENGINEERING RESEARCH BOARD (SERB)
Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Syamantak Majumder, Department of Biological Sciences
Project Tenure: 3 Years
Job Description: The candidate will work with animal cell cultures in specific vascular endothelial cells to study the effect of epigenetic pathways in the regulation of shelterin protein during vascular inflammation. In addition, the JRF needs to work with rodent models (mice/rats) of cardiovascular diseases to evaluate the efficacy of targeting unique epigenetic pathways to improve cardiovascular functions.
Qualification: M.Sc. / M.Tech./ ME in Physiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry or related Life
Science disciplines.Desirable: GATE/NET qualified
Upper Age Limit: Age not exceeding 30 years as of the date of the interview. Age relaxation is allowed up to 5 years for SC/ST/PH/OBC/WOMEN candidates.
Fellowship:
- 31,000/- (initially first two years) and 35,000 (afterward till the end of the project) per month for GATE/NET-qualified candidates.
- 25,000/-(initially first two years) and Rs 28,000 (afterward till the end of the project) per month for non-NET/GATE qualified candidates
Registration for Ph.D.: Selected candidates may be permitted to register for the PhD program of BITS Pilani subject to fulfilling the requirements of the PhD qualification process as per the institute norms.
