Position: Failure Investigation Engineer

Job Responsibilities:
Support Manufacturing:
- Investigate product or process failures in manufacturing.
- Drive investigations based on customer complaints, statistical process trending, or stability studies.
- Support improvement projects resulting from root cause investigations.
Analyze and Investigate:
- Lead root cause analysis techniques and brainstorming sessions.
- Participate or lead Problem Solving Processes (PSPs).
- Design and execute experiments as part of investigations.
- Analyze historical data to identify abnormal trends.
- Perform failure trending and analysis on key performance metrics.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work with cross-functional teams to provide knowledge and support for new product/process introduction projects.
- Use product software and other tools for testing.
- Develop new test methods and tools for failure investigation purposes.
- Collaborate with teams to evaluate mitigations and corrective actions.
- Prepare progress reports and final investigation reports.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- MSc in Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or Biotechnology.
- Minimum of 3 years of equivalent work experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in molecular biology and real-time PCR.
- Experience in data analysis, design of experiments, software engineering, and automation.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques and documentation according to GMP.
- Knowledge of Cepheid’s products, manufacturing, and release processes.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Strong skills in Excel.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data management for complex datasets.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office, laboratory, and production environment.
- Flexibility to work in shifts and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in root cause analysis techniques.
- Working experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working experience in a global organization.
- Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO, GMP).
