Applications are invited for the positions of Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow (Project), Research Associate-I, and Project Associate-I for the following time-bound sponsored project as per the details given below:

Project: “Whole genome sequencing of MTB clinical strains for determining drug resistance and strain lineage in India: A structured nation-wide approach” funded by DBT

Tenable till: 05.10.2025

Post details & No. of positions:

  • Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow (Project) – 1 position
  • Research Associate-I – 1 position
  • Project Associate-I – 3 positions

Educational Qualifications:

1) Junior Research Fellow (Project):

Essential qualification: Master’s Degree in any Biological/Physical/Computational Sciences stream or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Medicine, or Equivalent. The candidate must have qualified for at least one national-level examination after the Master’s degree.

Desirable qualification: Candidates with experience working with bacterial cultures, isolation of DNA or RNA from bacterial cells, and PCR technology will be preferred.

Emoluments: Rs. 37,000/- per month plus 24% HRA.

2) Senior Research Fellow (Project):

Essential qualification: Master’s Degree in any Biological/Physical/Computational Sciences stream or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Medicine, or Equivalent. The candidate must have qualified

for at least one National-level examination after the Masters’s degree. The candidate must have at least TWO years of experience either in molecular biology or Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Experience in library preparation for Next-Generation Sequencing will be highly desirable. Experience must be highlighted in the application and also supported by evidence.

Desirable qualification: Candidates with experience working with bacterial cultures, isolation of DNA or RNA from bacterial cells, and library preparation for next-generation sequencing will be preferred. Experience with Mycobacterium tuberculosis will be highly desirable.

Emoluments: Rs. 42,000/- per month plus 24% HRA.

3) Research Associate I:

Essential qualification: Ph.D. in any Biological Sciences stream with at least one peer-reviewed publication in a reputed journal. The candidate must be motivated to pursue a career in genomics and antimicrobial resistance. Previous experience with culturing and manipulation of M. tuberculosis is essential. Only the candidates with a strong interest in antimicrobial resistance need to apply.

Desirable qualification: Candidates whose Ph.D. thesis was on M. tuberculosis, and experience in next-generation sequencing (Illumina, nanopore, etc.), including library preparation/data analysis, will be preferred.

Emoluments: Rs. 58,000/- per month plus 24% HRA.

4) Project Associate-I (For project Management Cell):

Essential qualification: Master’s Degree in any Biological/Physical/Computational Sciences stream or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, Medicine, or Equivalent.

Desirable qualification: Candidates with previous experience in project management will be preferred.

Emoluments: Rs. 31,000/- per month plus 24% HRA if the candidate has qualified any National Level Examination, otherwise Rs. 25,000/- per month plus 24% HRA.

General Terms & Conditions:

  1. The selected candidates will be on contract for one year or the duration of the project, whichever is shorter.
  2. No hostel/housing facility will be provided.
  3. Applicants should clearly mention their category (SC/ST/OBC/PH) and attach relevant documentary proof.
  4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  5. In addition to the application in the prescribed format, candidates should also submit a complete Curriculum Vitae with the names of three referees and details of their experimental expertise.
