About the job
As a JoVE Science Writer Journal Biology, you will play a crucial role in converting manuscripts submitted by authors into precise voiceover transcripts suitable for video production. You will draft detailed scripts to guide media professionals, ensuring alignment with the manuscript’s essence. Acting as a liaison between authors, you will transform their manuscripts into JoVE journal video content, preserving the integrity and intention of the original text. Additionally, you will oversee multiple projects, maintaining organization and efficiency throughout the process.
Responsibilities:
- Convert manuscripts submitted by authors into precise voiceover transcripts suitable for video production.
- Draft detailed scripts to guide media professionals, encompassing videographers, voice artists, and video editors.
- Actively liaise with authors to accurately transform their manuscripts into JoVE journal video content.
- Modify and adapt scripts based on changes made post-video shoot, ensuring clear directions for voice artists and video editing teams.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring each progresses on schedule and meets set benchmarks.
- Coordinate with various teams and stakeholders to drive project success.
- Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are completed within the stipulated timeframes, prioritizing and multitasking effectively to meet deadlines.
- Maintain a high level of organization in all activities, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient completion of tasks.
Requirements:
- PhD in biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or related natural science field.
- Vast, hands-on expertise with animal disease models.
- Strong scientific and technical vocabulary with a deep knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- General knowledge of best practices for animal surgery and care.
- Ability to work efficiently in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
- Willingness to learn how to communicate scientific concepts visually.
- Enthusiasm for science and an eagerness to learn about new fields.
- Record of original research publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals strongly preferred.
