Here are five possible interview questions along with their answers based on the provided job description:

Question 1: Can you explain your experience and expertise in wet lab techniques, especially those related to molecular biology and microbiology? Answer: I have hands-on experience in various wet lab techniques, including molecular biology and microbiology. I’ve worked extensively with gene cloning and expression, transient transfections, lentivirus production, stable gene expression, and knock-down. Additionally, I’m well-versed in cell viability assays, Western blot analysis, QPCR, and immunofluorescence staining. My experience also includes working in a COVID lab and sewage surveillance, which has further honed my skills in these areas.

Question 2: How do you ensure the quality and accuracy of your lab work, especially when dealing with complex procedures such as multistep synthesis or tissue-based analysis? Answer: Ensuring the quality and accuracy of lab work is crucial. I meticulously plan and organize each step of the process, double-checking calculations and protocols. For complex procedures like multistep synthesis, I break down each step and conduct intermediate analyses to verify the success of each synthesis. Similarly, for tissue-based analysis, I follow established protocols while being attentive to potential variations. Regular calibration of equipment and close collaboration with colleagues also contribute to maintaining quality and accuracy.

Question 3: Can you discuss your familiarity with chromatography and spectroscopy techniques used in your work? Answer: Certainly. I have extensive experience in chromatography techniques such as column chromatography, HPLC, and GC. These techniques help in isolating and analyzing compounds of interest. Additionally, I’m proficient in spectroscopy techniques like IR and NMR, which aid in identifying functional groups and determining molecular structures. These techniques are essential for confirming the success of synthesis and ensuring the purity of compounds.

Question 4: Could you elaborate on your experience with setting up and conducting experiments involving mice modelling? Answer: I have experience in setting up mice modelling experiments for certain projects. This involved designing and executing experiments, administering treatments, monitoring the mice, and collecting samples for analysis. I’ve collaborated with colleagues to ensure ethical and humane treatment of the animals, adhering to guidelines and regulations. While my experience in this area is limited, I’m open to learning and enhancing my skills in mice modelling.

Question 5: How do you approach troubleshooting when you encounter unexpected results or challenges in your experiments? Answer: When faced with unexpected results or challenges, I adopt a systematic approach to troubleshooting. I review the experimental procedure step by step, ensuring that all variables are controlled. If the issue is equipment-related, I verify proper calibration and functioning. I also consult relevant literature and colleagues for insights. Maintaining detailed records helps in identifying the point of deviation. By systematically addressing each potential source of error, I aim to isolate and resolve the issue, ensuring the reliability of results.

These answers provide a comprehensive understanding of the candidate’s skills, experience, and approach to various technical aspects of the job.
