Here are 5 possible interview questions for the Facility Assistant position in the Electron Microscopy Facility along with their answers:

  1. Question: Can you explain the role of the Electron Microscopy Facility in supporting research and education within the bio cluster? Answer: The Electron Microscopy Facility plays a crucial role in providing state-of-the-art imaging technology and training to students and faculty within the bio cluster. It maintains electron microscopes and other equipment for biological sample preparation, emphasizing education and training. The facility enables researchers to conduct electron microscopy-based experiments independently.
  2. Question: What experience do you have with electron microscopy imaging and equipment maintenance? Answer: I hold an M.Sc. in Biotechnology and have worked extensively with electron microscopy imaging during my academic and professional journey. While I have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in EM imaging, I have successfully performed tasks related to instrument maintenance, sample preparation, data collection, and analysis.
  3. Question: How familiar are you with the high-resolution transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) technologies? Answer: I am well-versed with both high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technologies. I have hands-on experience with maintaining and operating these microscopes, which includes tasks such as image acquisition, sample preparation, and data analysis.
  4. Question: Could you provide an example of a time when you trained new users in sample processing, imaging techniques, and data analysis? Answer: Certainly. In my previous role, I trained a group of undergraduate students in our research lab on how to prepare biological samples for electron microscopy. I guided them through the imaging process, ensured proper data collection, and taught them how to analyze the obtained data effectively.
  5. Question: How do you stay updated with the latest advancements in electron microscopy hardware and software? Answer: I am committed to staying updated with the latest advancements in electron microscopy. I regularly attend workshops, webinars, and conferences related to microscopy technology. I also actively engage with online forums and communities where experts discuss new hardware, software, and techniques.
