Position available

Project Name: Proteomic profiling of extracellular vesicles (EVs) to identify markers that may facilitate specific isolation of tumor EVs from patient serum.

Funding agency: ICMR

Brief description: Breast cancer has the highest incidence among all cancers in women. We work on liquid biopsy approaches to understand the contribution of circulating cfDNA and extracellular vesicles (EVs). This project aims at understanding contents of EVs (transcriptomics and proteomics) and their biological effects in cellular model systems. For more details contact Kartiki V. Desai ([email protected]).

Here are five possible interview questions along with their answers for the Research Associate – I position in the Proteomic profiling of extracellular vesicles (EVs) project:

  1. Question: Can you explain your experience with the CRISPR-Cas9 system in mammalian cells? Answer: I have extensively worked with the CRISPR-Cas9 system in mammalian cells during my previous research. I have successfully designed and implemented CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing experiments to study specific genetic targets and their impact on cellular processes.
  2. Question: What molecular biology techniques and tools have you used in your previous work? Answer: In my previous work, I have utilized various molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and plasmid purification. I am well-versed in handling tissue and bacterial cultures for experimental purposes.
  3. Question: Have you worked with proteomics techniques before? If so, can you provide some details? Answer: Yes, I have experience in proteomics. I have conducted experiments involving protein extraction, separation using gel electrophoresis or liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry analysis. I am familiar with data analysis tools and databases used in proteomics research.
  4. Question: Can you explain your role in establishing tumor explants and purifying extracellular vesicles (EVs)? Answer: In previous projects, I was responsible for establishing tumor explants in suitable model systems. This involved collecting tumor samples, processing them for explant culture, and monitoring their growth. Additionally, I have experience in purifying EVs from various biological fluids using techniques such as ultracentrifugation or size exclusion chromatography.
  5. Question: How do you plan to contribute to the overall goals of the project and its research objectives? Answer: I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to this project. I aim to apply my expertise in proteomic profiling and molecular biology techniques to identify specific markers in extracellular vesicles that can aid in the isolation of tumor EVs from patient serum. I am committed to conducting rigorous experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with the team to achieve meaningful results.

Remember to tailor your answers based on your own experience and qualifications to showcase your expertise and suitability for the role.
