Hey there, looking for some possible interview questions and answers for the post of JRF at IISER Tirupati? Then check below

  1. Can you discuss your research experience in molecular biology techniques, such as gene cloning, RNA, DNA isolation, and RT-PCR?

Answer: During my master’s degree, I worked on several research projects where I gained hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques. I successfully performed gene cloning to study specific genetic sequences, isolated RNA and DNA for downstream analysis, and conducted RT-PCR to analyze gene expression patterns. These experiences have provided me with a solid foundation in molecular biology techniques.

  1. How familiar are you with Arabidopsis growth and stress phenotyping? Can you provide examples of experiments you have conducted in this area?

Answer: I have worked extensively with Arabidopsis plants during my research projects. I have experience in growing Arabidopsis under controlled conditions, exposing them to different stressors, and assessing their phenotypic responses. For example, I conducted experiments to analyze the effect of temperature stress on Arabidopsis growth and measured physiological parameters such as leaf area, biomass, and chlorophyll content. These experiments helped me understand the regulatory mechanisms underlying plant responses to stress.

  1. Have you qualified for any national-level tests conducted by Central Government Departments, such as CSIR-NET (Life Sciences), GATE (Life Sciences), or any other relevant exams?

Answer: Yes, I have qualified for the CSIR-NET (Life Sciences) examination. This exam assesses the candidates’ knowledge and understanding of various life science disciplines. My qualification in this exam demonstrates my competency in the field and showcases my ability to perform well in rigorous national-level tests.

  1. Can you discuss your experience working on a research project funded by a government agency or any other relevant funding agency?

Answer: I had the opportunity to work on a research project funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The project aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying drug resistance in cancer cells. I actively contributed to the project by conducting experiments, analyzing data, and presenting findings at conferences. This experience provided me with insights into the dynamics of working on funded research projects and exposed me to the expectations and deliverables associated with such projects.

  1. How do you plan to contribute to the research project focused on unraveling regulatory mechanisms underlying priming-mediated acquired thermotolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana?

Answer: I believe that my strong background in molecular biology techniques and experience with Arabidopsis growth and stress phenotyping make me well-suited to contribute to this project. I plan to apply my skills in gene expression analysis, molecular cloning, and stress phenotyping to investigate the regulatory mechanisms involved in priming-mediated acquired thermotolerance. I am eager to collaborate with the team, learn new techniques, and contribute to advancing our understanding of plant responses to temperature stress.

Remember to provide specific examples from your own experiences and tailor the answers to highlight your skills and qualifications. Good luck with your interview!
