The Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM) is a constituent unit of NCERT, which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, Govt of India. It is proposed to fill the posts of 11 Junior Project Fellows under various PAC approved Programmes (6.01, 6.02,6.03,6.05,6.09,6.10,6.11,6.16, 6.17) for the session 2023-24 on Contractual Basis through walk-in-interview. The eligibility conditions and other requirements of the recruitment for the aforementioned post is given below:

Essential: Master’s degree in Physics/Chemistry/Zoology/ Botany/Bio-Chemistry/Life Sciences or any related discipline with a minimum of 55% Marks for the general category (50% marks in the case of SC/ST/PH)

Desirable:

  1. Degree/ Diploma in Education
  2. Knowledge of Computer Applications
  3. National Eligibility Test (NET)
  4. At least six months of Research experience in the related area
  5. Experience related to designing games, toys etc. (for PAC 6.09)

Essential: Master’s degree in Botany/Agriculture Botany, Biotechnology/ Life Sciences/Environmental Science or any related disciplines with minimum of 55% Marks for the general category (50% marks in the case of SC/ST/PH)

  1. Degree/ Diploma in Education
  2. Knowledge of Computer Applications
  3. National Eligibility Test (NET)
  4. At least six months of Research experience in the related area

Title of the Project – Development of Hindi Version of Biotechnology Textbook for Higher Secondary

Essential: Master’s degree in Biotechnology or any related discipline with a minimum 55% Mark for the general category (50% marks in the case of SC/ST/PH)

Desirable:

  1. Degree/ Diploma in Education
  2. Knowledge of Computer Applications
  3. National Eligibility Test (NET)
  4. At least six months of Research experience in the related area

Tenure of the Fellowship – Upto 31st March 2024

Age Limit – Below 40 years (as of the last date of filing up the application) as per UGC guidelines. (5 years relaxation in the case of SC/ST and female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC candidates)

Value of Fellowship

  • Rs.25,000/- p.m.(Fixed consolidated for NET Qualified candidate)
  • Rs.23,000/- p.m.(Fixed consolidated for Non-NET Qualified candidate

How to Apply

  • Time of the Interview – 10:30 a.m. onwards
    (The registration of eligible candidates will be done from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. only and no candidate will be entertained after 11 a.m.)
  • Venue – Conference Room, First Floor, DESM, Janaki Ammal Block, NCERT, Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi -110016.

The interested candidates who fulfil the required eligibility conditions as mentioned above may attend the Walk-in-interview on the specified date and time along with their bio-data (in the given format), original certificates/mark sheets/testimonials/experience certificate(s), etc. One set of self-attested copies of certificates/testimonials and one passport-size photograph also be submitted.

For the person whose minimum eligibility degree is awaited, please do not apply. Candidates attending interviews will not be paid any TA/DA by the NCERT. The candidates working with other organizations should forward the application through their employer or bring a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer at the time of the interview. The candidate who had already worked as Junior Project Fellow (JPF) in the NCERT for two and half years, need not apply again, as per NCERT norms

Answer: As an applicant, I was impressed by the objectives and goals of the project, and it aligns with my academic background and interest in this field. Additionally, my experience in research, designing games and toys, and proficiency in computer applications can be beneficial to the project.
  2. What do you understand by the term ‘Resource Material based on Games, Toys, Models, Videos, Storyboards and Integration of Art Forms in Science’ in PAC 6.09 project? Answer: The objective of the PAC 6.09 project is to develop innovative teaching and learning resources using games, toys, models, videos, and art forms, which can make science education more engaging, interactive, and accessible for students.
  3. How would you approach designing audio-visual resources based on laboratory manuals in science for PAC 6.10 project? Answer: I would first study the laboratory manuals to understand the experiments and concepts covered. I would then develop scripts and storyboards to create engaging audio-visual resources such as videos and animations to demonstrate the experiments. I would ensure that the audio-visual resources align with the learning objectives of the laboratory manual and are interactive and informative.
  4. What do you think are the benefits of popularizing science education among the masses, as proposed in the PAC 6.16 project? Answer: Popularizing science education can help promote scientific literacy, critical thinking, and rationality among the masses. It can also generate interest in scientific research and innovation, leading to the development of new technologies and solutions. Science communication and popularization can also help bridge the gap between scientists and the general public, leading to better-informed decision making.
  5. How would you approach developing a Hindi version of a Biotechnology textbook for higher secondary education as proposed in the PAC 6.05 project? Answer: I would first study the existing Biotechnology textbook and understand the content and concepts covered. I would then develop a translation strategy that ensures that the content is translated accurately while maintaining the language’s clarity and simplicity. I would work closely with the language experts and teachers to ensure that the Hindi version aligns with the curriculum and meets the learning objectives.
