Advertisement for the post of one Research Associate and one Senior Research fellow (for ICMR funded Extramural Project)

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of one Research Associate (RA III) and one Senior Research Fellow (SRF) on purely contractual basis in the extramural research project titled “Optimising Percutaneous Trigeminal and Vagal Intermittent Electro-Therapeutic Nerve Stimulation in Parkinson’s Disease (OPTIoNS-PD)” sanctioned to Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar, Head, Department of Neurology at I-NK, as Principal Investigator under Ad-hoc- Scheme of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) India.

Name of the post: Research Associate (RA III)

Number of posts: 01 (UR)

Duration of the project: Two years and 5 months. The appointment will be on a contractual basis for a period of one year. Based on the performance in the first

year, the contact could be renewed till the end of the project.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification and Experience:

PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal.
or
Three years of research, teaching and design and development experience after M.VSc./M.Pharma/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal.

Age Limit: 40 years (Relaxed upper age limit by two years in case of woman candidates)
Note: The cut-off-date for the age limit for RA will be as on the last date of submission of application

Desirable qualification: Practical expertise on Neurostimulation/ Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) studies, surface EMG studies, knowledge of coding through MATLAB/ python, statistical analysis using standard packages, scientific writing, graphical representation of data and figure drawing using standard photo-editing software (corel/Photoshop) are desirable. Both writing and oral communication skills will be given importance. Prior effort on writing research grants for PI or for independent research funding will additionally help.

Background of biomedical engineering/ cognitive neuroscience/ motor neuroscience/ human physiology or allied discipline is preferable. Candidates with experience in digital signal processing of biological signals will get preference.

Nature of work: The researcher will be involved in obtaining consent from the research participants, executing clinical electrophysiology experiments, clinical rating of patients of Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological disorders. He/She will actively take part in experiment planning, statistical analysis, and report writing under the supervision of PI and Co-I. He/she is also expected to assist in writing research grants for funding.

Emoluments/month: As per govt. approved consolidated salary for ICMR RA-III.

Duration of the project: Two years and 5 months. The appointment will be on a contractual basis for a period of one year. Based on the performance in the first year, the contract could be renewed till the end of the project.

Eligibility Educational Qualification and Experience:

M.Sc. (Life Sciences), MA (Social Sciences), Master in Social work(MSW) degree holders with two years of research experience
Or
MBBS/BDS/MVSc./M.Pharma/M.Tech/ME degree holders

Age Limit: 35 years. Note: The cut-off-date for the age limit for RA will be as on the last date of submission of the application.

Desirable qualification: Hands-on training in executing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) studies, knowledge of coding through MATLAB/ python, experience in conducting surface EMG studies, statistical analysis using standard packages, making publishable figure using standard photo-editing software (coreldraw/ photoshop) are desirable. Background of biomedical engineering/ cognitive neuroscience/ motor neuroscience/ human physiology or allied discipline is preferable.

Nature of work: The SRF will be involved in performing electrophysiological recordings and data retrieval. He/She will help in recruitment of healthy volunteers, patients, execute experiments and will perform assessments after adequate training. He/ She will also perform quantification of biomarkers through ELISA and spectrophotometric methods. Apart from data collection he/she will be accountable for secured data archival and maintenance of the laboratory records/instruments/ equipment.
