CSIR – Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, a constituent National Laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of 03 (Three) positions of PROJECT ASSOCIATE LEVEL – I tenable at the Department of Traditional Foods & Applied Nutrition, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, Karnataka.

Name of the Project – “Formulation and product development of Ayurveda recipes and nutritional evaluation of selected products” (GAP-0634)

Duration – Initially for a period of 01 Year (Project duration for 3 Years) or till the project is over on a temporary contractual basis

Terms & Conditions –

1. Candidates should not have exceeded 35 years of age as of 07-04-2023 i.e. the last date of receiving the applications.
2. The engagement of the PROJECT ASSOCIATE LEVEL – I is exclusively for the above-mentioned research work.
3. The engagement will be contractual and purely on a temporary basis for a period of 08 Months or a co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.
4. The engagement under the externally funded project does not confer any right/claim whatsoever either explicitly or implicitly on the appointee for regular appointment in CSIR-CFTRI, against any post or otherwise under any legal conditions precedent.
5. The performance of the Project Staff will be reviewed every six months. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the fellowship could be terminated with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof.
6. No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for attending the interview.
7. If already the candidate is working in CSIR-CFTRI “No objection certificate” from the PI is mandatory at the time of the interview.

Essential Qualifications:

• M.Sc. (Molecular Biology) – One position
• M.Sc. (Biochemistry) – One position
• M.Sc. (Food Science & Nutrition) – One position

Job Requirements: To carry out experiments under the supervision of PI & project team as per the objectives of the funded project.

Emoluments – Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand only) plus 18% HRA per month.

1. Can you tell us about your experience in molecular biology/biochemistry/food science and nutrition?

• Answer: I completed my M.Sc. in (relevant field) and during my studies, I gained hands-on experience in various techniques such as (techniques learned). Additionally, I have completed (internship/work experience) in a research laboratory where I conducted experiments on (specific project/work done).

2. What interests you in this project and why did you apply for this position?

• Answer: I am interested in the research project as it is related to developing Ayurveda recipes and evaluating their nutritional value, which is a field that I find fascinating. I believe that my educational background and previous research experience make me a suitable candidate for this position.

3. Can you give an example of a challenging situation you faced during your previous research work and how you overcame it?

• Answer: During my previous research project, I encountered difficulty in obtaining consistent results from an experiment that I was conducting. To address this, I carefully reviewed the experimental protocol and identified possible sources of error. I also consulted with my supervisor and colleagues, and we worked together to troubleshoot the problem until we obtained reliable results.

4. What are your career goals and how do you see this position contributing to them?

• Answer: My long-term career goal is to become an independent researcher in (specific field). This position as a Project Associate Level-I will provide me with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research and develop my skills in (specific techniques or field), which will be beneficial for my future career development. Additionally, working on a project that involves product development and evaluation will provide me with valuable experience in the food industry.
