Position Purpose
The role holder shall report to the team leader and shall perform research activities (cloning, expression in Bacteria, Yeast, fungal and mammalian systems), and engineering of proteins-directed evolution.
Strategic Responsibilities
Research Activities
- Design, plan, assist and execute assigned molecular biology work
- Develop skills and capabilities in the molecular biology domain
- Build intellectual proficiency in molecular biology
- Plan experiments to investigate and analyse candidate enzymes for their potential use in crop protection/growth activators under the supervision of the team leader.
- Prepare and operate complex instrumentation required for the experiments.
- Conduct experiments, and execute advanced analytical techniques on candidate molecules to extend scientific theories and explore their practical application.
- Tabulate results, analyze and extrapolate results data to develop theories for explaining observed phenomena.
Documentation
- Document and record findings in research reports/papers for further dissemination/filing.
Process Adherence & improvements
- Adhere to all safety/information security/quality norms related to research procedures.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives under the direction of the Head – Enzyme & Fermentation.
Knowledge Management
- Participate in knowledge management initiatives by contributing to the KM portal.
- Contribute to competitor intelligence through secondary research, participation in internal/external forums, and professional organizational networks.
- Identify and utilize best practices in formulation development.
Reporting
- Update timesheets/progress trackers and submit to supervisor as directed.

- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to ensure the meeting of research objectives.
Education Qualification – Candidates with Ph.D/M. Tech/M.S/B.Tech from reputed universities from India or abroad with specialization in molecular biology /biotechnology from a reputed University / Institute with excellent academic credentials.
Work Experience
2-3 years of post-academic industrial research experience
Industry to be Hired from
Agro Chemical / Pharma / Research Universities or Institutes
Functional Competencies
- Excellent clinical and laboratory skills including knowledge of lab procedures (experience in handling microbial highly appreciated), equipment and protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong exposure to various analytical/preparatory platforms such as HPLC/FPLC, GC, and MS.
- Strong capability & knowledge strong capabilities and interest in heterologous gene expression in E.coli, yeast, fungal and mammalian systems, protein engineering, directed evolution and familiarity with fundamentals of biochemistry to play an effective interfacial role with the biochemical group.
