RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF) AND FOUR POSTS OF PROJECT ASSISTANTS (PA) in the
following research projects sponsored by Central Silk Board, Government of India, in this

Post I
Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (One post under PA3)
Project Period – June 2022 – May 2025
Nature of Job –
- Mass production of insects, bioassay.
- Conducting field experiments on insecticides.
- Data collection at lab and field level.
Essential Qualifications – M.Sc. (Agri.) in Entomology/ M.Sc. Zoology with specialization in Entomology, M.Sc. in Life Science with Entomology/ M.Sc. in Sericulture/ M.Sc. Entomology from a UGC-recognized University.
Desirable qualifications – Preference will be given to the candidates with experience in mass multiplication of insects/lab culture, conducting field and lab experiments and bioassay.
Emoluments –
- For candidates with NET qualification Rs 31000/- + admissible HRA per month.
- For candidates without NET qualification Rs21000/- + admissible HRA.
- After the successful completion of two years as JRF in the project, the research fellow will be awarded SRF after due assessment.
Post II
Name of the Post – Project Assistants (Four posts) PA-1 PA-2 PA-3
Project Period –
- PA1- May, 2022 to October 2024
- PA2- June 2022 to May 2025
- PA3- From June 2022 to May 2025
Nature of Job –
- Experimental rearing of the mulberry silkworm
- Data collection at lab and field level
- Statistical analysis of data
- Marker assisted selection
- Field visit to Jammu, Manipur and eastern regions and data collection
Essential Qualifications – Pass in Bachelor’s Degree (BSc / BSc Honours) in Sericulture/Life Sciences/Agriculture from a UGC- recognized University with 60% marks/ 55% for SC/ST candidate.
Desirable qualifications – PG Diploma in Sericulture and knowledge of computer operations.
Emoluments –
- Consolidated pay of Rs.20000/- per month (for candidates with full-time B.Sc. Degree and PG Diploma in Sericulture).
- Consolidated pay of Rs.15000/- per month for candidates with full-time B.Sc. Degree.
Post III
Name of the Post – PA4
Project Period – PA4- From June 2022 to – May 2025
Nature of Job –
- Assisting in the Implementation of Project
- Carrying out intensive field work in sericulture
- Tour to study areas of Eastern and North eastern states for data collection
- Data collection, computerizing, tabulation and analysis, publications, seminars, etc.
- Report drafting
Essential Qualifications – Pass in Bachelor’s Degree (BSc / BSc Honors) in Sericulture/Life Sciences/Agriculture from a UGC- recognized University with 60% marks/ 55% for SC/ST candidate.
Desirable qualifications – PG diploma in sericulture. One year of research experience in Field/ Developmental/ agricultural extension projects is preferable. Computer skills with working knowledge to operate SPSS/ statistical software, etc.
Emoluments –
- Consolidated pay of Rs.20000/- per month (for candidates with full-time B.Sc. Degree and PG Diploma in Sericulture).
- Consolidated pay of Rs.15000/- per month for candidates with full-time B.Sc. Degree.

Eligible candidates may appear for a Walk-in-Interview at the time and venue given below with biodata and a passport size photograph, originals and one copy each of educational qualifications showing SSLC, PUC, BSc and MSc, date of birth, NOC from present employer (if you are employed), research experience certificate, research papers published in journals (if any) and caste certificate for SC/ST candidates, along with valid e-mail Id and telephone/mobile numbers.
Important points –
- Date of walk-in-interview – 27 September 2022.
- Time – 10.00 AM (Candidates should reach the venue by 9:30 AM for verification of documents).
- Entry of candidates will be permitted only till 12 Noon.
- Venue – Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Central Silk Board, Ministry
of Textiles, Govt. of India, Berhampore – 742 101
District – Murshidabad, West Bengal, India (Landmark: Backside of Berhampore court
railway station) - Upper age limit – 30 years for project assistants and 35 years for JRF on the day of notification. Relaxation of five years for SC/ST, women, physically handicapped and OBC candidates as per rules.
- No TA/DA will be provided to attend the interview.
- The above-mentioned position is purely temporary on a contractual basis and co-terminus with the project. Further claims for any post will not be entertained thereafter.
