RECRUITMENT OF JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)
Applications are invited from interested and eligible candidates for One (01) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS (JRF) in Zoological Survey of India, Western Regional Centre, Pune for a project sanctioned by the Goa Forest Department titled “STATUS AND DISTRIBUTION OF AVIFAUNA IN IMPORTANT BIRD AREAS (IBAs) OF GOA”. The position is temporary for a period of six or up to March 2023, whichever is earlier and will be terminated on completion of the period.

Age – up to 30 years (relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC)
General Instructions
- Age Limit: Age shall not be more than 28 years as of the last date of application. Upper age limit relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer (NCL)/ Women/ Physically Challenged applicants, as per Govt. of India rules.
- The candidate will be shortlisted on the basis of their qualification and experience. Mere possession of qualifications and experience may not entertain a candidate called for an interview or selection.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email and speed post for appearing before an interview committee, on short notice, to be held at WRC, ZSI, Pune. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
- At the time of the verification of original documents (even after selection), if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection and due action will be implemented.
- Candidates selected will be liable to post as per the requirements, including field sites, and should be able to join the duty immediately within the prescribed timeline after the selection.

Job Description – The candidate selected is expected to undertake extensive field surveys in the mountains, forests, wetlands and coastal and marine areas including protected areas and eco-sensitive zones of Goa, and therefore, required to be physically fit to undertake research in terrain and hostile conditions. JRF will be posted at WRC, Pune or Goa for a longer duration also, based on requirements
Educational Qualifications – Master’s degree in Zoology / Life Sciences/Wildlife Science/
Environmental Sciences or any equivalent qualification with Zoology as a major subject in
graduation level from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks.
Desirable Qualifications – Research experience in taxonomy, systematics, zoology or allied subject, field survey experience in wildlife, wildlife photography, knowledge of Computers and basic field data collection.
Salary – Rs. 12,000/- + Admissible HRA (As per Govt. of India rules)
