WALK-IN WRITTEN TEST/INTERVIEW
The following posts are to be filled purely on a temporary basis from willing eligible candidates for the below-mentioned projects implemented by this institute as detailed thereon.

Post I
Name of the Post – Project Technical Officer (Lab)
No. of Posts – 1 Post
Name of the Project – Protecting and Improving Public health globally; Building Laboratory, Surveillance and work force capacity to detect, respond to and prevent Drug Resistant TB in India
Place of Posting – CHENNAI
Duration – For a period of Three Months
Age limit – Not exceeding 30 years.
Post II
Name of the Post – Project Assistant (Research
Assistant)No. of Posts – 1 Post
Name of the Project – To evaluate the operational feasibility and performance of TB
detect and TB concentration & Transport and TB DNA Extraction kits in filed settings under National Tuberculosis Elimination Program
Place of Posting – CHENNAI
Duration – For a period of Three Months
Age limit – Not exceeding 30 years.
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES –
- The Candidates should bring a filled application form in the prescribed format which can be downloaded from the websites www.nirt.res.in, www.icmr.nic.in at ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, No.1, Mayor Sathyamoorthy Road, Chetpet, Chennai 600 031 along with self-attested copies of all credentials in support of educational qualifications, age, caste/community and affixing a colour passport size photograph on the application form while reporting for walk-in written test/interview on the date and time mentioned above. Original Certificates of all these credentials should also be carried with for verification.
- For reserved category posts, candidates must produce their latest Caste Validity Certificate. OBC candidates must possess the latest valid non-creamy layer certificate. PWD candidates shall produce the latest disability certificate issued by a Medical Board of Government hospital with not less than 40% disability.
- Age relaxation is admissible in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates, Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including projects) and Ex-Servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other ICMR research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons.
- Experience certificate should clearly state the nature of work during the period of
employment. - No-Objection Certificate from the current employer (for Govt./AB/PSU Servants only).
- All posts are Contractual for the duration offered. The engagement may be renewed after every specific period of time subject to satisfactory performance and project requirements.
- The incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under NIRT/ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
- TA/DA will not be paid by NIRT for attending the written test/ interview.
- The Director, ICMR-NIRT reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts or cancel the recruitment or re-advertise the posts, without assigning any reasons thereof, no further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
- Any further information may be downloaded from the ICMR-NIRT website which will be updated from time to time.
- The date of the Walk-in written test/Interview may be changed due to administrative reasons, hence, candidates are advised to check the website before appearing for a walk-in written test/interview.
The Director /Selection Committee has the right to accept/reject any application
without assigning any reason thereof.
Canvassing and bringing pressure in any form for shortlisting, interview and employment will be a disqualification and barred from the selection process.
For Post I
Emoluments – Consolidated salary Rs.32,000/- p.m.
Essential Qualification –
Graduate in Life Sciences from a recognized university with five years’ experience from a recognized institution.
or
Master’s degree in Life Science.
Nature of Duties –
- To carry out laboratory experiments needed for the project such as clinical sample processing, LJ culture, DNA extraction, drug susceptibility testing (DST) in the Bactec MGIT system, etc.,
- Proficiency in technical report writing skills in English along with flexibility in duty hours towards the completion of project goals are required.
For Post II
Emoluments – Consolidated salary Rs.31,000/- p.m.
Essential Qualification –
Graduate in Life Science from a recognized university with 3 years of work experience in a recognized institution
OR
Master’s degree in Life Science.
Nature of Duties –
- The candidate will be responsible for all field and Lab related activities that include interacting with study participants, Performing sputum processing, culture and DST for the study samples.
- Perform DNA extraction (following all steps of PCR) for Line.
- Probe assay on all sputum samples received. Preparing study-related periodic reports, and performing any other study-related activities delegated by the Study Coordinator/ Principal Investigator.
