ADMISSION TO POSTGRADUATE AND RESEARCH PROGRAMMES -2022
RESEARCH ADMISSIONS 2022
Applications are invited from eligible applicants for admissions to the following programmes –
- Research Programmes [(Ph.D. / MS(Engg.) / MS(Research)]
- Master of Science (M.Sc) in Chemistry with the option to specialize in Materials
Chemistry/Chemical Biology / Energy (Two-year programme) - Integrated Ph.D. Programmes
The gist of the admission operations is given in the following paragraphs.
Applicants possessing the educational qualifications including those in the final semester/year of their qualifying examinations but expect to complete all the requirements for award of the degree (like examinations, project dissertations, viva-voce etc.,) by 30.07.2022 and can furnish necessary certificates on or before 31 October 2022 are eligible to apply.
1. RESEARCH PROGRAMMES [Ph.D. / M.S(Engg.) / M.S(Research)]
1.1 Eligibility
Evolutionary and Integrative Biology Unit
Eligible Education qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent in Life Sciences / any area of Biological
Sciences/Mathematics/Physics. - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or any Biology related area.
- MBBS /M.D.
- B.VSc / M.VSc
OR
Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or any Biology related area.
Qualifying in any one of the national entrance tests
Valid GATE /JEST score / CSIRJRF/UGC- JRF/DBT- JRF/ICMRJRF / ICAR AICE-JRF/INSPIRE
OR
Qualifying in the national exam is desirable
Neuroscience Unit
Eligible Education qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Biological/Life
Sciences/Pharmacy. - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or any Biology related area.
- MBBS /M.D
OR
Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or any Biology related area.
Qualifying in any one of the national entrance tests

Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit
Eligible Education qualifications
- . Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemical/ Biological/Life Sciences.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or any Biology related area.
- MBBS /M.D

Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or any Biology related area.
Qualifying in any one of the national entrance tests

1.2 Selection procedure
Candidates are short-listed for an interview based on their performance in the national entrance test and qualifying degree. The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some units, an aptitude test/preliminary interview may precede the final interview).
Note: Keeping in view the pandemic situation, interviews will be held online. If there’s any change, it will be notified on the admissions website.
2. INTEGRATED Ph. D PROGRAMME
2.1 Eligibility
Biological Science
Qualifying degree
- Students with a minimum of 55% marks in bachelor’s or equivalent degree in
Physical, Chemical or Biological Science (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences and Agricultural Sciences) or B.E/B. Tech degree or equivalent degree. - Candidates who have qualified for the JAM 2022 written test are encouraged to
apply.
2.2 Selection procedure –
Shortlisting for interviews for selection to the Int. Ph.D Physical Sciences and Int. Ph.D Chemical Science Programme will be based on the Joint Admission test for Master’s (JAM) score. The candidates applying for the Int. Ph.D Biological Science programme will be shortlisted based on online exam (Multiple Choice Questions). These shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear for interviews online. The final selection to the Int. Ph.D Program will be based on the performance in the interview.

HOW TO APPLY
Applications for all the programmes mentioned above are available online. (only online
applications will be considered).
APPLICATION FEE
The application fee is Rs.500/- and is non-refundable. Any bank or payment gateway service charges must be borne by the applicant. Initiation of processing refund of multiple payments transactions due to payment gateway errors will be done only after the closing date of the application. For refund of multiple payments (Rs 1000/above), the request should be sent by email with relevant evidence of transactions to [email protected].
Options of online payment through net banking, debit card/credit card etc. is available.

Last date for submission of applications online (website closes at 23:59 hours on 31.03.2022) – 31.03.2022
The last date to apply for the Ph.D/M,S,(Engg./Research) program is changed to 20 April 2022.
Scholarships – All the regular students [except Master of Science (M.Sc) in Chemistry] joining JNCASR are eligible for a scholarship from JNCASR/ CSIR / UGC/ ICMR / DBT /INSPIRE depending upon their mode of entry.
