Project Name – DBT funded project titled “Multi-Omics Signatures of Human Placenta: Real-time assessment of placental functions for development and birth outcomes” on a contractual basis initially for a period up to August 2022.
Details of the project – The placenta was once considered to be sterile and the presence of bacteria in the placenta was considered to be a possible trigger for preterm labour. Recent studies have shown that the placenta harbours a unique
microbiome of non-pathogenic, commensal bacteria and studies evaluating its associations with adverse pregnancy outcomes are available. In the present study, we will first investigate the composition of a healthy placental microbiome in term vs preterm pregnancy to identify the dysbiotic taxa that may be associated with PTB.Monthly Emoluments (₹) – 25,000 plus 24 percent HRA
Essential Qualifications –
M.Sc.in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ M.V.Sc.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or
equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications –
- M.Sc. in Life Sciences with Prior Research experience in the form of master’s
thesis/Summer training etc. involving PCR and DNA sequencing. - At least 60% marks in masters and Graduation levels.
- Experience in biological sample handling,
- Microbiological Culture, Host and Microbial DNA
- Isolation, Primer Designing, PCR and DNA
- Sequencing, prior experience to maternal and child related research
Nature of work & Responsibilities –
- Processing of Biospecimens, placental tissue biopsy collected from Hospitals for
Microbial DNA, RNA isolation. - Performing basic molecular biology laboratory works like PCR and DNA sequencing for
both the host and microbial samples. - Performing basic microbiological lab work.
- Formulation of SOPs and maintaining GLP with proper documentation of day-to-day lab activities.
- Maintenance of Stock and Purchase Indenting.
These positions are contractual, and appointments will be initially given up to 31-08-2022, which are extendable depending upon the performance and requirements of the project.
