Name of the Post – Biologics Downstream R&D Specialist
Location – Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, India On-site
Roles & Responsibilities
- Work with group leader and junior colleagues to advance downstream process development projects within a cross-functional team across Biocon sites
- Independently design and execute advanced studies related to process development and scale-up ensuring balance of time and resources
- Lead tech transfer activities for handover of projects to external GMP manufacturing sites
- Analyse, troubleshoot, and interpret complex process data to understand the fundamental phenomena at hand and inform next steps
- Independently author technical reports of studies in support of process development activities such as process protocols and technology transfer reports
- Review eLN experiments of junior colleagues and ensure ALCOA compliance
- Review and ensure all data and reports generated in the function are accurate, complete, and suitable for use in support of authoring regulatory dossiers
- Review data presentations compiled by junior colleagues and fine-tune content as fit-for-purpose
- Ensure lab instrumentation is up-to date, calibrated, and raise issues with vendors & follow-up to ensure closure. Ensure lab inventory is equipped to support seamless operations
- Collaborate with the group leader for experiment planning, project management, budget planning, and resource allocation/monitoring
- Communicate project updates to group leaders and project management teams
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature in process development
- Mentor junior colleagues in collaboration with group leader, fostering a team environment committed to the principles of scientific excellence
Education
- Degree in Life Sciences such as bioprocessing, biotechnology, biology, biochemistry, or closely related field
- M.Sc / M.Tech with 7-11 years or PhD with 2-6 of research experience
Required Experience
- Relevant experience in renowned biopharmaceutical companies
- Experience in Downstream unit operations such as Chromatography (AKTA Avant, AKTA Pure or similar) Filtration and TFF systems and relevant software
- Experience in handling Liquid handling Systems and method creation
- Experience in experimental analysis using relevant software and tools such as JMP, Minitab, MS Excel
- Experience with technology transfer and scale-up of processes to pilot
- Experience in working in complex, multi-disciplinary technical teams to solve process-development challenges
- Good knowledge of statistics and DOE
- Good documentation practice is essential and experience with electronic laboratory notebook is preferred
- Good presentation skills and ability to communicate ideas and concepts
