The following posts are to be filled purely on a temporary basis from willing eligible
candidates for the below-mentioned projects implemented by this institute as detailed thereon.

NTEP

Place of Posting – CHENNAI

Duration – Initially for a period of Six Months.

Age limit – Not exceeding 45 years.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES –

1. The candidate should submit the application form along with the self-attested copies of the following certificates by ordinary post/Speed post duly superscribed as “Application for the post of_______” on the top of the envelope & send it to The Director, ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, No.1, Mayor Sathyamoorthy Road, Chetpet, Chennai – 600 031 for considering their candidature and should mention the name of the post applied for in the prescribed application form. The last date for receiving applications is 11.02.2022 by 5.30 p.m. The date of the online/skype interview will be intimated to the eligible/shortlisted candidates by e-mail and in return, they will have to send their skype id by e-mail.

2. Successfully selected candidates shall be subject to verification of all original documents by ICMR-NIRT and fulfilment of required eligibility criteria in all respects of qualification,
   age and experience, etc.
3. Reserved category candidates must produce their latest Caste Validity Certificate. OBC
   candidates must possess the latest valid non-creamy layer certificate. PWD candidates shall produce the latest disability certificate issued by a Medical Board of a Government hospital with not less than 40% disability.
4. Age relaxation is admissible in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates, Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including projects) and Ex-Servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons.
5. No-Objection Certificate from the current employer (for Govt./AB/PSU Servants only).
6. All posts are Contractual for the duration offered. The engagement may be renewed after every specific period of time subject to satisfactory performance and project requirement.
7. The incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under NIRT/ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
8. The Director, ICMR-NIRT reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts or cancel the recruitment or re-advertise the posts, without assigning any reasons thereof, no further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

10. The date of the Online/Skype interview may be changed due to administrative reasons, hence, candidates are advised to check the website before appearing for an Online/Skype Interview.

The filled-in application along with self-attested copies of all credentials in support of educational qualifications, age, caste/community and affixing a colour passport size photograph on the application form should be sent by post.

The Director /Selection Committee has the right to accept/reject any application
without assigning any reason thereof.

Canvassing and bringing pressure in any form for shortlisting, interview and employment will be a disqualification and barred from the selection process.

Emoluments – Consolidated salary Rs.65,000/- p.m.

Essential Qualification –

Ph.D. Medical Microbiology/Applied Microbiology/General Microbiology with Three years’ work experience in Bacteriology.
OR
M.Sc. Medical Microbiology / Applied Microbiology/General Microbiology with Five years of work experience in Bacteriology.

Desirable Qualification

• Experience in diagnostic Mycobacteriology.
• Experience in working with NTEP.
• Basic knowledge of computers

Nature of Duties –

1. To supervise day to day activities of the National Reference Laboratory.
2. Provide technical support in the expansion of the full range of activities under the External Quality Assessment (EQA) for sputum smear microscopy, Mycobacterial Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing.
3. To conduct an on-site evaluation of laboratories in assigned States/UTs and submit periodic reports to CTD.
4. To contribute to periodic revision in laboratory SOPs including newer technologies.
5. To support planning and scaling up of quality assured Mycobacterial Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) laboratory network for MDR TB management and drug
   resistance surveillance.
6. To monitor laboratory performance (for all technologies and methods followed by the respective laboratories) in States/UTs by coordinating with the laboratory Microbiologists and providing periodic feedback to CTD on the performance indicators.
7. To support the laboratory component of commissioned operational research and other evaluation for newer diagnostics.
