Admission to Ph.D. Programme under CSIR -GATE/GPAT Scheme
CSIR- Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) Mysore is a premier

& Technology and Earth Science, Govt. of India, New Delhi. CSIR-CFTRI is committed to

Human Resource Development in the areas of Food Science and Technology through
quality attributes to be practised and implemented at all levels. The research &
development in diverse disciplines of Food Science & Technology is very well supported
by excellent infrastructure, state-of-the-art instrumentation, scale-up facilities and
expert research mentoring.
An Online interview will be conducted to select candidates for engagement of two JRF positions under CSIR’s Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)-GATE scheme for Indian nationals to work at CSIR- CFTRI on contemporary
research projects and obtain Ph.D. degree from Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR). The interested candidates may visit the Institute website (www.cftri.res.in) for further details. The candidates may apply for admission for Ph.D. programme under the faculty of Biological Science for Aug 2022 session against the advertisement published by CSIR-CFTRI.Eligibility – B.E/B.Tech degree holders in Food Technology/Food Processing Engineering/ Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering with a valid GATE score OR candidates with B.Pharm degree and qualified GPAT and desire to pursue full-time Doctoral (PhD.) Research Programme in Biological Science under (AcSIR). M.Tech candidates (either with B.Tech/ M.Tech or with M.Sc/ M.Tech) and M. Pharm are not eligible for this fellowship. Candidates who are eligible for direct CSIR-SRF cannot apply for this fellowship.
Age limit – The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years which is relaxable up to 5 years
in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, women & physically handicapped applicants and 03 years in the case of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
Stipend and tenure – The fellowship will be available for a duration of five years in which
the candidate is required to complete the PhD degree. The fellowship amount is Rs. 31,000/- plus HRA per month. In addition, a contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum (calculated on pro-rata basis for fraction of a year) is available under the fellowship as per the guidelines.
Further on completion of two years as JRF-GATE/GPAT, the fellowship may be upgraded
to SRF-GATE and stipend will be increased to Rs. 35,000/- per month in the subsequent
years on the basis of assessment as per normal CSIR guidelines. All other conditions of
JRF-NET will apply.
Candidates selected for the award of JRF-GATE/GPAT will be eligible for fellowship
subject to getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D programme.
Eligible candidates are requested to send a scanned copy of the duly filled prescribed
application form along with copies of certificates and mark sheets by email to
[email protected] latest by 21.01.2022. No other mode/means of application will be
accepted. Application received after the due date (21/01/2022) will not be considered.
Short-listed candidates will be informed about the date of the interview by email. The
selected candidates need to appear for document verification on a given date with all
their original certificates/ Mark sheets with attested photocopies of it and a recent
passport size photograph along with a hard copy of the filled-in application form.
