Period of the post: One year (Originally appointment will be for six months which will be
extendable depending upon the satisfactory performance of the candidate)

Qualification: M.Sc in Life Science

Desirable:

Two years experience in

(i) Clinical

1. Recruiting subjects into the study after seeking informed consent from patients, relatives, and healthy controls.
2. Collection of blood, muscle, and other biological samples.
3. Transporting all biological samples to Neuromuscular laboratory under optimal conditions and archiving.
4. Clinical data collection and entry into excel sheet: age, gender, pedigree chart, anthropometry, other clinical features, nerve conduction study data, etc (under supervision).

(ii) Laboratory:

1. DNA extraction from blood, muscle, and other biological samples.
2. Checking DNA quality/ quantity by nanodrop/ gel electrophoresis.
3. Storage of stock and diluted DNA and cataloguing the same (register and excel sheet).
4. PCR and sequencing by Sanger technique.
5. MLPA.
6. Data analysis: online tools
7. Assist in other research activities of the Neuromuscular laboratory pertaining to mitochondrial disorders (as and when required).
8. Cell culture work.
9. Data entry (register and excel sheet).

Emoluments: Rs.44,500/
