About BRIC-IBSD
The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) is an institute in the ambit of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The main mandate of IBSD is the conservation and sustainable utilization of bioresources for the socio-economic development of the North Eastern Region of India, which is a genetic treasure trove of plants, animals and microbial resources. The region falls among the world’s top 10 Biodiversity Hotspots. Its broad areas of research include Plant Bioresources, Microbial Resources, Natural Product Chemistry, Animal Bioresources, and Bioinformatics and Database Management.

BRIC-IBSD invites applications for the positions of PhD. JRF for the year 2026. The selected candidates will be enrolled in the BRIC-DBT-RCB PhD. Programme and may be placed at any of the Centres of BRIC-IBSD.

Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
- A Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Studies, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
OR
- Candidates with a 4-years Bachelor’s degree in Science/Technology, or equivalent (including M.V.Sc., MBBS, etc.) are also eligible to apply.

Preference will be given to candidates holding a valid national fellowship such as:

Selection Procedure
Selection will be based solely on an interview of candidates who have qualified for JRF or INSPIRE fellowships.
The selected candidates will be enrolled in the BRIC-DBT-RCB Ph.D. Programme and may be placed at any of the Centres of BRIC-IBSD.
The date of interview will be announced later on the institute website. No email in this regard will be sent to individual candidates.
Fellowship
The fellowship and other emoluments will be as per the guidelines of the funding agencies – DST/DBT/CSIR/ICMR and as revised from time to time.
