Job Description
The project investigates the hypothalamic neural circuits underlying parkinsonian cognitive and motor dysfunctions. The research fellow will work closely with a team of researchers using mouse models to map, characterise, and target hypothalamic circuits through advanced neuroscience methods. Responsibilities will include assisting with surgeries, injections, and behavioural assays related to cognition and motor functions. The fellow will receive training in data collection, analysis, and proper documentation to support both audits and scientific publications. Additionally, the role also involves contributing to essential lab operations, including the procurement and maintenance of reagents, supplies, and animal stocks necessary for the project.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates with a strong interest and motivation to pursue a career in neuroscience are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants should hold an M.Sc or an equivalent degree in Biology, preferably with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Applicants should have qualified in one of the following: CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test and/or GATE/JAM or equivalent national-level exams.
- Prior research experience in neuroscience and animal handling will be given preference.
- Familiarity with genetic engineering techniques and proficiency in programming tools such as Python or MATLAB will be considered as an added advantage.
