DBT BioCARe 2026-27
The Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has announced the DBT BioCARe 2026-27 call for applications under the “Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-Orientation (DBT BioCARe) Programme for Women Researchers”. This initiative aims to enhance the participation of women researchers in the field of Biotechnology.
About the Department of Biotechnology
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) is a part of the Ministry of Science and Technology of India. It plays a pivotal role in promoting and developing biotechnology in the country, focusing on research and development, policy formulation, and the promotion of biotechnology applications in various sectors including health, agriculture, and environment.
Eligibility Criteria
- The fellowship is open to Indian Women Nationals up to the age of 55 years residing in India who are unemployed as of the closing date of the application.
- The duration of the project will be up to 3 years.
- Applications can be submitted under Category-I: Women researchers who have completed Ph.D. in any discipline of Biotechnology/Life Sciences or allied areas/interdisciplinary sciences/MD/MDS/M.V.Sc or Category-II: Women researchers who have completed M.Tech in Biotechnology or in allied areas/M.Pharma/equivalent Degree holders.
- Candidates who are registered or enrolled in higher studies/Ph.D and/or receiving any fellowships are not eligible to apply.
- The research support will be provided only to unemployed women researchers for whom this is the first extramural research grant. Women researchers who have received any earlier grant from any Government Funding Agency as Principal Investigator are not eligible.
Nature of Support
Under DBT BioCARe 2026-27, the fellows will receive a consolidated grant which will include non-recurring and recurring expenses required for conducting the proposed research project along with a fellowship.
