Position: Project Fellow

Name of Project: Developing a collaborative management strategy for conservation of
tigers in North East India, Component 1: Status and Conservation of Tigers and Their Habitats in Hill Ranges of North East India with special reference to Mishmi Hills, Manipur and Nagaland

Emoluments: Rs.25000 +HRA (as admissible)

Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Social Science/ Environmental Sciences/ Statistics/Anthropology from a recognized University and minimal one-year of work experience in a similar field.

Desirable Qualification: Preferably having experience/interest in: natural history of north-east India, wildlife surveys, camera trapping, socio-cultural surveys, quantitative techniques, R, GIS-RS and most importantly keen desire to carry out arduous fieldwork in the remote and rugged landscape of northeast India under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic support.

Description of work: Work involves conducting ecological studies on tigers And their prey species in selected remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. Post II (a)

Position: Junior Research Fellow

Name of Project: An integrated approach for conservation of Takin (Budorcas taxicolor) in
North East India: Linking species ecology and traditional ecological knowledge

Emoluments: Rs.31000 +HRA (as admissible) (for first two years) 35000+HRA (for 3 rd year subject to satisfactory performance)

Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Social Science/ Environmental Sciences/ Statistics/ Anthropology with at least 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification: Preferably having experience/interest in: natural history of north-east India, wildlife surveys, camera trapping, movement ecology, socio-cultural surveys, quantitative methods, R, GIS-RS and most importantly keen desire to carry out arduous fieldwork in the remote and rugged landscape of northeast India under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic support.

Description of work: The study involves carrying out a survey for colonial nesting birds and heronries in east coast states. Assist the project team in daily activities and the functioning of the job both at Headquarters and in the field.

Position: Junior Research Fellow

Name of Project: Biogeography of Eastern Borderland in India: Evidence from Ectotherms

  1. CSIR-JRF. UGC-NET cleared Candidates
  2. Field Experience in Herpetological research and handling herpetofauna.
  3. A keen desire to carry out fieldwork in remote Northeast India with minimal logistics.

Position: Forensic Researchers

Name of Project: Wildlife Forensics and Conservation Genetics Cell

Essential Qualification: M.Sc. In Biotechnology/Genetics/Animal Genetics/ Life Sciences from an established university with 60% aggregate marks and above.

Desirable Qualification: Candidate with the experience of working in a Genetics laboratory is desired for this position. A candidate with CSIR/UGC fellowship would be favoured.

Description of work: Selected candidate will have to help the Project Investigator at the laboratory for the analysis of wildlife crime cases and undertake another associated assigned task.

Description of work: Selected candidate will have to see the Northeast States (Assam/Manipur/ Tripura/Mizoram etc.) for the execution of this project and fieldwork and will have to perform the genetic experimentation of this project and other project related assigned task.

Description of work: Work on the corridor ecology in Kaziranga – Karbi Anglong Landscape and Identify critical points along the corridors with a higher probability of negative human-wildlife interaction for developing a conservation strategy for tiger in Northeast India.

Position: Project Fellow (Conservation genetics)

Desirable Qualification: > 1-year experience of working on the population Genetics of large mammals using various molecular Markers, having the expertise in handling microsatellite Markers and large genomes.

Description of work: Examine the pattern of gene flow among large Mammals in Kaziranga – Karbi Anglong Landscape.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

The candidates have to apply online. Online submission of application will be allowed on the website up to 23:59 hrs on 10.06.2019. No additional means/mode of application shall be accepted. Candidates are needed to visit the link provided for filling ONLINE application and fill the personal details/BIO-DATA, fees etc. attentively. Before completing the application online, applicants should keep ready a scanned copy of passport size photo and signature in jpg/jpeg format (Photo sizes less than 500 KB and signature size less than 200 KB). Candidates need to make sure that the applicable details viz. Name, Date of Birth, Address, etc.. Entered in application form ought to be correct.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The duration of the qualifying exam is going to be two hours. The question paper contains only’Multiple Choice Questions. These questions are objective in nature with four answers each, out of that candidate has to choose the correct answer. The question paper will consist of general queries, subject-specific and one Essay. Qualifying eligibility marks will be as per UGC norms.
  2. The fee paid once, won’t be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates must satisfy themselves that they fulfil all of the eligibility criteria including educational qualification(s) according to the date of submission of this application can apply.
  3. Candidates are advised to offer specific, correct and complete info. All original certificates/documents in support of information furnished in the application form should be made at the time of interview in Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, failing which the candidate will be disqualified for appearing at the interview. Candidature of those applicants is apt to be rejected at any stage of the admission procedure or following admission if any information provided by the applicants is found to be untrue or isn’t found in conformity with eligibility standards mentioned in the advertisement.
  4. For getting the benefit of reservation under OBC category, the name of caste and community of this candidate should appear in the central list of Other Backward Classes (OBC) available on National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India site www.ncbc.nic.in. The candidate should not belong to creamy layer. Candidates seeking reservation as OBC is going to need to submit at the time of the interview, caste certification, ONLY in the prescribed format issued from the designated authority indicating clearly the candidate’s caste, the Act/Order under the caste is Recognized as OBC and the Village/Town the candidates is ordinarily resident of. The OBC applicants must make sure that they have the most recent Non-Creamy layer certificate issued by the designated authority. A certificate containing some variation from the caste title won’t be accepted.
  5. Mobile phones, pagers, calculators or any other communication devices aren’t permitted within the premises where the examination has been conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from a future evaluation conducted by the Institute. Candidates are advised in their own interest to not bring any of these banned items such as mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the exam, as an arrangement for safe-keeping cannot be assured. F
  6. Candidates appearing for the final examination of Master’s in the current year won’t be qualified for the test/interview.
  7. Each applicant will be permitted to apply for more than TWO projects.

PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE

  1. Applicants/candidates have been needed to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 500/per project.
  2. Rs. 45/extra would be charged as service charges of online payment. Thus the whole sum to be compensated for registration is Rs. 545/(Five hundred forty-five only)
  3. Candidates have to make application fee payment via debit card/credit card/net-banking (service charges apply for all banks will likely be borne by the applicants ). The candidates will be automatically/redirected to make online payment (where the fee is appropriate ) once the form has been successfully completed. No other mode of payment will be accepted.
  4. Application fee once paid won’t be refunded under any conditions. Candidates are therefore requested to confirm their eligibility before payment of application fee.
