Post: Research Assistant at TTCRC
The Tata Medical Center (TMC) is a new not for profit dedicated cancer hospital based at New Town in Kolkata. Currently, it has 450 beds. It is one of its kind in eastern India. The Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre (TTCRC) is an exciting new research institute being set up within TMC. TTCRC is creating a stimulating environment where clinicians, scientists and industry can work together to develop indigenous solutions for patients with cancer in India. As a new institute, the structure offers a unique opportunity for talented individuals to become leaders in the field of translational medicine within a relatively short span of time.
The post will provide support for bio banking and cutting edge laboratory research in genomics, molecular and cellular biology in the field of cancer. The candidate needs to integrate and closely work with the Genomics, Proteomics, Imaging and Bioinformatics team. We will expect the candidate to interact and collaborate with the clinician and scientists of various specialization to meet scientific project needs. The person is required to think and work independently, though integrated within the group. This post is funded by a grant from TCS.
Team Work and Supervision
The post holder will work within a team that will include themselves, other scientists and clinicians involved in developing biomarkers. Appointments have been made in genomics and proteomics and we expect you to work closely with these individuals. TTCRC works on a modular system with each focus group working independently. Team leaders have been appointed and will be responsible for your supervision.
