CSIR – National Botanical Research Institute Hiring Research Associate / Project Fellow / Project Assistants

Originally conceptualized and set up as the National Botanic Gardens (NBG) by Professor Kailas Nath Kaul on behalf of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, it was taken over by the CSIR in 1953. Dr Triloki Nath Khoshoo joined in 1964 as the Assistant Director, shortly afterwards becoming the Director. Initially engaged in research work in the classical botanical disciplines, the NBG went on laying an increasing emphasis in keeping with the national needs and priorities in the field of plant sciences, on its applied and developmental research activities. Due to the untiring efforts of Dr Khoshoo, the institute rose to the stature of being the National Botanical Research Institute in 1978, reflecting the correct nature and extent of its aims and objectives, functions and R & D activities.

Position III

Job Title – Junior Research Fellow (Project)/ Project Fellow

Area III – Molecular Biology & Biotechnology

Project Title – “Exploring transcriptional regulators involved in prickle formation in Solanum khasianum” and “Tomato ripening Network: Targeted manipulation of SIERF6 and SIERF8 in tomato: their role in regulating fruit ripening and productivity”

Age Limit – 28 years

  • For PF: Rs.16000/ -+ HRA

Qualifications – M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Plant Science/ Life science /Botany/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics with CSIR/ UGC/ ICAR/ DBT NET-JRF/LS qualifications.

Job Title – Project Assistant Level II / Project Fellow

Area III – Molecular Biology & Biotechnology

Project Title  – “Genomics of Medicinal plants and Agronomically important traits (PlaGen)”

Position V

Job Title – Senior Project Fellow

Area III – Molecular Biology & Biotechnology

Project Title  – “Studies on genome wide epigenetic variations in natural populations of west Himalayan thaliana along altitudinal gradient”

Age Limit – 32 years

Emoluments – Rs.18000/ – + HRA

Qualifications -1st Class M.Sc. in Bioinformatics/Biotechnology/ Life Science /Biochemistry/Botany with 2 years research experience and atleast one publication in SCI Journal or 1st class M.Tech in Bioinformatics

  • Age of the candidate will be reckoned as on date of walk in interview. However, Age relaxation for all the positions as per Government of India/CSIR instructions. Age relaxation for Widows, Divorced Women and Women Judicially separated from their Husbands, who are not remarried, as per GOI provisions.

Terms and Conditions:

HRA will be admissible as per sanction of the projects.

  1. The Application form will be provided at the venue on the date. However, candidates may download the application form in advance from the website www.nbri.res.in. At the time of interview candidates should bring one latest photograph, original documents along with self attested copy of certificates of examinations passed (starting from matriculation), certificate indicating date of birth, caste certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC) and experience certificate, etc. Tentative mark sheets/certificates and ‘result awaited’ will not be considered. All eligible candidates are requested to be present at the venue on the said date one hour before the scheduled time for necessary documents verification etc.
  2. Mode of Selection: Through Interview. However, if large number of candidates turn up, a Screening test comprising of multiple choice objective questions will be held for short listing the candidates for interview. The short listed candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee and, based on the performance in the interview; a panel of recommended candidates will be formed. The panel shall be utilized as and when the requirement arises in the projects in the relevant field/area. Candidates have the option to interact in Hindi/English before the committee. In case of turning up of large no. of candidates, interview may continue for next day.
  3. The positions are purely temporary on contract basis and co- terminus with the sponsored projects. Further the above stipend(s) is tentative and the same will be finally decided based on the availability of funds in the relevant sponsored projects.
  4. In case of Universities/Institutes awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA Grades etc., candidates are requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their University/Institute.
  5. To avoid any inconvenience, only those candidates who strictly fulfill the eligibility criteria and possess the degree/mark sheet in the aforesaid subjects should turn up for walk in interview.
  6. No TA/DA will be admissible.
