Khorana Program: Summer Internship at University of Wisconsin Madison, USA (DBT, Government of India Sponsored)
University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) are partnering to support the prestigious Khorana Program for Scholars named in honor of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana, who won the Noble Prize in 1968 for his work at the interface of chemistry and biology while a member of the UW faculty.
The Khorana Program will provide opportunity to Indian students to undertake research at University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) for a period of 10 weeks. Khorana Scholars Program for Students from India to Study at UW-Madison
B.Tech, M.Tech, and M.Sc. students currently enrolled in recognized institution of higher education in India in the areas of Biotechnology including agricultural and health & biomedical sciences are invited to apply for scholarships for summer research at UW-Madison.
Scholarship includes: Stipend, Accommodations, Airfare
Program dates are May 18–July 31, 2010.
The Khorana program is making possible the exchange of students between select Indian institutions and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Undergraduate Khorana Scholars from India will spend the summer in research laboratories at UW, mentored by UW faculty. They will have the opportunity to become part of major research programs with international teams of scientists. In exchange, Khorana Scholars from UW will be placed in laboratories of Indian partner institutions for similarly enriching experiences.
The Khorana program is starting with the exchange of students and scholars between select Indian institutions and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Khorana program also envisions applied research that benefits rural/agricultural development in India.
A third leg of the program would place students and scholars in internships with appropriate industries both in the US and in India.
