PhD Position in Neurodevelopmental Biology : Ulm, Germany

Our group focuses on transcription factors that are essential for normal neocortical development. For our studies we use conditional mutant mice (Cre/loxP system) that show a complex phenotype in the CNS.

Besides a reduced neocortex, we could observe defective migration and abnormal terminal differentiation of cortical neurons. The molecular mechanisms, that underlie these findings, yet remain incompletely characterized.

Position:-

We offer a grant-funded PhD position in a well-equipped lab with the possibility to join the International Graduate School in Molecular Medicine Ulm (http://www.uni-ulm.de/einrichtungen/mm.html).

Our methods spectrum comprises molecular biological, immunohistological, biochemical, and embryological techniques, as well as cell culture and confocal microscopy.

Desirable qualification:-

We seek a highly motivated and ambitious candidate with an excellent degree in biology or Biochemistry and some experience in mouse model as well as molecular biology and/or protein Biochemistry.

How To Apply?

Applicants should please send a cover letter, a CV, and contact details of two references until the end of November 2011 to Dr. rer. nat. Christoph Wiegreffe (christoph.wiegreffe@uni-ulm.de)

Deadline : 30.11.2011
