Postdoctoral Fellow available in The European Molecular Biology Laboratory group at Monterotondo, Italy

The European molecular biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany) and the outstations are in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

We are looking for a very qualified and motivated individual to fill a post-doctoral researcher position in the Lancrin group working on the cellular origin of blood cells during mouse embryogenesis at EMBL Monterotondo, Italy. Using genetic approaches coupled with embryonic stem (ES) cell differentiation and generation of mouse model, we plan to identify and study the genes responsible for the generation of the first blood progenitors during embryonic life. Our aim is to gain a better understanding of the cell fate decisions leading to the production of the first hematopoietic cells and to use this knowledge to improve methods of blood cells generation from ES Cell or induced Pluripotent Stem Cell.

Qualifications and Experience : Applicants should hold a PhD degree in developmental biology, molecular biology, or mouse biology. Candidates with experience in ES cell culture, flow cytometry and microscopy will be preferred. An interest in hematopoiesis is highly desirable. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the capacity to run a project independently. Fluency in English, good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills and the ability to work as part of an international team are required. The candidate will benefit of the state of the art EMBL core facilities as well as its stimulating and interdisciplinary environment.
