PhD student T-cell immunity in multiple sclerosis : Hasselt University, Belgium
The Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED) of Hasselt University has longstanding expertise in immunological research of autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and multiple sclerosis (MS). T-cell research within BIOMED focuses on the activation, regulation and homeostasis of autoreactive T-cells in patients with MS and RA. We previously demonstrated defective immunoregulation and homeostasis in MS patients. Furthermore, we evidenced premature aging of the immune system in these patients. The predoctoral researcher will study the possible causes and consequences of this premature immunosenescence. Immunological, genetical and clinical aspects will be taken into consideration. He/she will use advanced immunological and molecular techniques in the frame of this project
