National Seminar on Fungal Biotechnology | Department of Botany, Mithibai College, Mumbai

Botany Department of Mithibai college, Mumbai is organizing a National Seminar on Fungal Biotechnolgy from 7th Jan to 9th Jan 2010, in association with Mycological Society of India, Mumbai unit. National Seminar on Fungal Biotechnology is a unique event, which proposes to bring together participants from different disciplines such as Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, biochemistry and Chemistry to discuss uses of fungi in various areas. It is intended to expose and train the students with the research techniques employed in Fungal Biotechnology.

Fungi have a great potential in biotechnology. Commercial applications include fungal degradation of pollutants, petroleum hydrocarbons, coal, tar, pesticides and chlorinated solvents. It is believed that the organisation of this seminar will enable scholars working in diverse areas of fungal biotechnology to meet on a common platform and share their experiences with the scholarly deliberations.
