The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Agriculture in 1947 became a member of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) family in 1967. The headquarters was shifted from Mandapam Camp to Cochin in 1971.
Aim: To undertake basic, strategic and applied research in marine fisheries and mariculture. To monitor and assess the fisheries resources of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and to understand the stock and its dynamics in relation to environment and human interventions To develop and commercialize hatchery and production system technologies for finfish, shellfish and other commercial marine organisms in coastal and open seas.

Name of the Project: Development of a Library Putative Probionts from Marine environment Belonging to the Genus Pseudomonas, Micrococcus and Bacillus for application in Mariculture Systems.
Name of the Post: Senior Research Fellow
Educational qualification Essential:Masters degree in Fisheries Sciences/ Biotechnology with hands on experience in Marine Microbiology.
Desirable: Candidates should have the ability to independently carry out the marine microbial identification and screening.

Nature and duration of the Post: Purely temporary and will end with the termination of the project.
Age limit: 35 years (age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and Women and 3 years for OBC.)
Emoluments: Rs.12,000 pm.+ HRA 20% for first 2 years Rs.14,000 pm +20% HRA for 3rd year.
