A position for a POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW is open in the group of "Cancer Stem Cell Biology" at the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ISREC) of Life Sciences Faculty
Our research is focused on identification and characterization of cancer stem cells in various solid tumors using genetically engineered mouse models and patient samples (Nature 2008, 452:650-3).
In particular, we are interested to understand the molecular signals and epigenetic events which control cancer stem cell self-renewal and their interactions with the stromal environment and the immune system. The long-term goal of our research is to recognize novel targets which can be translated into new therapeutic approaches for cancer patients. This project has recently been supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the National Center for Competence in Research (NCCR) in "Molecular Oncology".
The group offers a creative international environment with the possibility to carry out high level research in an exciting and rapidly moving field. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with a PhD degree and a track record of high quality publications and experience in tumor biology, animal experimentation and molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Self-motivation and ability to work independently as well in a group are essential. Good knowledge of English (oral and written) is mandatory. Grant submissions are encouraged.
Starting date: as soon as possible.
