TAMIL NADU VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY

Applications are invited for the following courses

Madras Veterinary College, Chennai

Ph.D. in the following disciplines

Animal Biotechnology :- Candidates with M.V.Sc., degree course in any field of specialization (except Animal Husbandry Economics, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension and Animal Husbandry Statistics) or M.Sc., degree in Biotechnology with basic B.V.Sc. & A.H., degree recognized as equivalent thereto shall be eligible.

M. Phil. in Biotechnology (One Year – Two Semesters)
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A candidate with Masters degree in Science in the disciplines of Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Gene Technology, Animal Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Genetics, Marine Biology and Fisheries Sciences (except Fisheries Economics and Fisheries Extension) from a recognized university or any other degree recognized as equivalent thereto shall apply.

Candidates with an OGPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 under trimester system or 6.0 out of 10.0 under semester system or 60% aggregate in Masters degree shall alone apply. For SC/ST candidates a minimum pass is sufficient

Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics (One Year – Two Semesters)
- Eligibility:
  A graduate with any one of the following qualifications: B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc., B.Sc.(Agri.), B.Sc.(Horti.), B.E., B.Tech., M.B.B.S., B.D.S., M.Sc., MCA or postgraduate degree with Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biophysics / Botany / Zoology / Biology/ Biochemistry / Microbiology /

Pharmacology / Computer Science/ Statistics of any recognized University with OGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 in trimester system or 7.0 out of 10.0 in semester system or 50% in conventional system. A minimum pass is sufficient for SC/ ST candidates. Admissions open to other state candidates also.

HOW TO APPLY

Registration fee: Rs. 500/- for other Communities and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST for each course.
Registration fee will be accepted only by means of crossed demand draft payable at Chennai. The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of the “FINANCE OFFICER, TANUVAS, CHENNAI- 600 051”. Demand draft drawn prior to 10.08.2008 will not be accepted.
Separate application forms should be used for M.V.Sc. / M.F.Sc., Ph.D. (Veterinary) / Ph.D. (Fisheries) and M.Phil Biotechnology / PG Diploma in Bioinformatics / Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosis / Companion Animal Practice / Wild Animal Disease Management.
Candidates are requested to send a self addressed envelope (size: 15x10 cm) stamped for Rs.5/- along with application.
Applications received without Registration fee will not be accepted.
Applications received after the due date will summarily be rejected. The University will not be responsible for any postal delay.
Filled in application and Hall ticket along with Registration fee (in the form of Demand Draft) should reach the “Chairman, Admission Committee (PG), Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai-600 051 on or before 01.09.2008, 5.45 p.m.
