Applications are invited form researchers, young scientists and junior faculties for 5 days workshop and Hands-on training course on “Molecular Techniques in Cell Signaling and Bio-Medical Nanotechnology” from 27.01.10 to 31.01.10 at Thrombosis and Nanobiotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005.

Candidates will be provided hands-on training on effect of nanomaterials on:

• Cell signaling
• Metallic nanoparticle synthesis and their characterization
• Nanoparticle - protein bioconjugate formation Measurements of intacellular calcium
• ROS by fluorescence spectroscopy
• Mitochondrial membrane potential measurement by flowcytometry
• Sample preparation of nano-biomaterials for electron microscopic analysis
• Isoelectric focusing and 2-D electrophoresis of signaling proteins
• Western blotting and immunoprecipitation
• Other signaling procedures including live imaging of effect of nanomaterials on animal model by Intravital fluorescence microscopy

How to apply
Applicants should preferably be below 40 years of age. Applicants are required to furnish their CV, one page write-up on their major field of work, funding position and how this workshop would benefit them.Only 15 Candidates will be selected on basis of academics.Applications comprising cover letter, CV and write-up should arrive at the following address on or before 15th October, 2009.

Only selected candidates would require to pay registration fee of Rs 3000 /- which includes course fee, registration kit, breakfast, and lunch. Accommodation within BHU campus would be provided to limited number of candidates on payment of Rs 500 in advance along with registration fee.
