Confluence is the annual Techno management festival of NIT Rourkela.The last edition of NITR’s technical festival, Confluence, was a huge success with a large number of events which attracted participants from all over India. The festival boasted of technical workshops and techno-management events which were designed to provide opportunities to participants to learn and be an intellectual experience. A seminar on present market and opportunities in the software sector was presented by Ms. Meher Afroz from Microsoft. Workshops on MAYA and aeromodelling were very successful and helped the participants gain knowledge and experience from leaders in the respective sectors.

Departmental Events
The Department of Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering was set up in the academic year (2007-2008) and offers B. Tech, M. Tech and PhD courses. By being one of the few technical institutes to offer such courses, NIT Rourkela attempts to galvanize the dormant Biomedical and Biotechnology fields. The department comprises of a number of qualified faculties from different disciplines to fulfill the multidisciplinary objective of its various programme.

Poster Presentation
Rules and Judging criteria:

• You can choose any topic related to Biotechnology and Biomedical applications, future prospects and progress etc.
• A poster can be presented in a group of atmost 3 members.
  
• Poster must be on drawing sheets.
  
• Poster should be handmade.
  
• For poster presentation, maximum time allowed is 15 miniutes followed by 5 minutes for question and answer session.
  
• Winners will be chosen on the basis of quality of poster design, presentation, the theme of the poster and the cross-questioning by the judges.
  
• Judges decision shall be final and binding to all.
  
• No prior research experience is required and the event is open to all.
  
• Your abstract should be submitted to the co-ordinator before 2nd February 2010.

• The participating entries must be in a team of a maximum three people.
  
• The competition is open to all students.
  
• Every team has to mail to the concerned coordinator for the request for participation with their details.
  
• A team can participate at any point of time till the start of the event.
  
• Judges decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.
  
• Note that at any point of time the latest information will be that on the site. The information provided in the pdf downloaded earlier may not be the latest. However, registered participants will be informed through mail about any changes on the site.

Paper submission and Presentation Policy

• The abstract must be strictly within 300 words; in ms woraaad/pdf format, font size should be12 and in Times new Roman.
  
• The paper should be either 2 or 4 pages, in ms word/pdf format, font size should be12 and in Times new Roman.
  
• For paper presentation, maximum time allowed is 15 miniutes followed by 5 minutes for question and answer session.
  
• The PC and LCD projector will be provided by the event organizer at the time of presentation.
  
• The Abstract should be sent before January 31st 2010.
