Attend the Symposium on Natural Products in Health & Disease @ Panjab University

This is our immense pleasure to invite you to attend the Symposium on “Natural Products in Health and Disease: Biochemical and Molecular Mechanisms” to be organized by the Department of Biochemistry on 4-5th March 2010.

Medicinal plants play an important role in maintenance of health and prevention of disease. From time immemorial, mankind has always looked towards plants for food, shelter and medicines. India is a rich source of traditional medicine which is mostly plant based. A vast majority of Indians living in villages and tribal areas depend largely on medicinal plants and herbs for their health care needs. Moreover, natural products have been regarded as the maintain stay for drug discovery programs. Although the people of all continents and cultures have been using different kinds of natural products for centuries, their mechanisms of action are poorly understood.

Conference Topics
This meeting will provide a forum for discussing the biochemical and molecular basis of action of different natural products and their bioactive constituents in various diseases, including
metabolic disorders
brain disorders
infectious diseases and cancer

Abstracts may be submitted by e-mail followed by a hard copy. Abstract should be typed in MS word in Times New Roman style with 1.5 line spacing and should be restricted to 250 words. The title of the abstracts should be bold with font size 14. The names and
affiliation of authors should be typed in the next line with the name of the presenting author underlined. The body of the text should be typed in font size 12. The abstracts accompanied with the registration fee should be sent to the Organizing Secretary latest by February 15, 2010. The organizing committee will take decision about the acceptance and mode of presentation of the paper and communicate accordingly. The best presentation will carry an
award.
