National Workshop on Microbial Diversity Database from October 29-30, 2009
Objective:
India as one of the mega diverse countries in the world can make a great contribution to provide solutions for global issues through its mega diverse microorganisms. However, a large portion of this diversity has not been studied. Modern biotechnology would be an essential tool to explore and turn hidden microscopic biodiversity into "biodiamonds". This workshop aims to highlight the relevance of microbial database and their underlying importance in microbial biotechnology. This will assist us to direct our research towards proper documentation, characterization and creation of database of microbes considering their role in sustainable environment.
Participants:
The workshop is open to participants from universities and colleges, research scholars and lecturers, professionals from government research institutions, private sectors, and nongovernmental organizations. Policy or decision makers in biotechnology based sectors are also welcome to participate in this workshop. The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 25 participants.
Registration Details:
All interested participants are requested to send the application form duly filled and countersigned by the respective head of the department/office/organization on or before 30th September.2009 to the organizing secretary NWMDD-2009. Selected candidates will be intimated by email/phone by I0th of October. 2009.
Fees
Scientists/Lecturers government institutions - Rs.500.00
PhD students. Research scholars -Rs.300.00
NGOs.Private firms. Companies and policy makers - Rs.1500.00
Fees are to be paid through a bank draft in favour of "Organizing Secretary NWMDD-2DDB" payable at S.B.I.. NEHU Branch (Code:42B5). Shillong.
There is no provision to provide TA/DA for attending the workshop. Accommodation may be arranged on request at the university guest house/hostels subject to the availability ofseats.
Duly filled in application along with the Bank draft should reach the organizing secretary by 30th September 2009.
A soft copy of the application can also be sent to the organizing secretary via email to avoid delay in the selection procedure. However, final selection will be subject to the receipt of the hard copy of the application on or before 30th September.2009.
