GATE 2010 score is valid for TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of the GATE 2010 results

Biotechnology(BT): Inclusion of separate Biotechnology paper (BT), has on a positive side increased the chance of B.Tech/M.Sc Biotechnologists attending GATE exam without the hassle of attending compulsory chemistry paper But this paper comes with addition of Maths and General Aptitude.


Whats included newly in Syllabus (apart from syllabus of GATE 2009, XL Biochem,Microbio,Biotech papers)
Maths: Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics, Numerical Methods.
Biochemistry: Biochemical and biophysical techniques for macromolecular analysis)
Molecular Biology&Genetics (Molecular structure of genes and chromosomes,Mendelian inheritance,Population genetics,Extrachromosomal inheritance, Molecular basis of genetic diseases and applications,Population genetics; Transposable elements,Chromosomal variation)
Process Biotechnology: Aerobic and anaerobic biological processes for stabilization of solid / liquid wastes
Bioprocess Engineering: Various types of microbial and enzyme reactors; Instrumentation in bioreactors.
Plant&Animal Biotechnology: Techniques in raising transgencies.
Characteristics of Animal Cells: Micro & macro-carrier culture; Hybridoma technology; Live stock improvement; Cloning in animals; Genetic engineering in animal cell culture; Animal cell preservation.

Life Science(XL): Has 5 sections and chemistry is compulsory along with 2 other papers(out of Biochemistry,Botany,Microbiology,Zoology)
No changes in the syllabus of the sections in XL.

General Aptitude: 15 marks has been dedicated for General Aptitude(applicable to all papers)
Verbal Ability: English grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups, instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction.
Numerical Ability: Numerical computation, numerical estimation, numerical reasoning and data interpretation.
