Stem Cells: Clinical Applications

Clinical application of stem cells:

•     Stem cells offer one of the most marvelous opportunities of transplanting a live source for self-regeneration.
•     Clinical applications of stem cell transplantation in bone marrow transplants (BMT) are very well known. Besides they can repopulate the marrow and renovate all the different cell types of the blood even after high doses of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

The other clinical applications like Parkinson's disease, skin transplantation, brain cell transplantation by the isolation of additional stem and progenitors cells is now being developed.

Stem cells are known for their incredible potential in providing efficient treatment for genetic diseases caused by single-gene defects. Even as other
 

recombinant protein therapeutics is at hand in the market for such diseases, stem cells can be a reasonable option to such therapies.

In recent years diabetes has become a very attractive target for stem cell-based therapies.
